50L Carbonised Rice Husk (CRH)

£35.50

The Carbonised Rice Husk (CRH) is an essential gardening growing medium, widely used for cultivating succulents, vegetables, seedlings and ornamental plants. Produced through incomplete combustion, it is rich in organic matter (approximately 80%), mainly cellulose and lignin, providing excellent durability and slow decomposition. It can remain active in the soil for up to two years.

When incorporated into growing media, it significantly improves soil drainage and aeration, promoting healthy root development. It also helps maintain balanced moisture levels, reducing the frequency of watering when used as a mulch.

Rich in silica, it acts as a natural deterrent against slugs and snails. It can also encourage the formation of mycorrhizae (a beneficial association between fungi and plant roots), supporting improved nutrient uptake.

It is important to note that these benefits are associated with carbonised (black) rice husk, rather than natural (yellow) rice husk.

An ideal choice for anyone looking for lighter, well-draining and effective growing media for plant cultivation.
